Woolworths and Coles shoppers stunned as popular cleaning brand disappears from shelves

Woolworths and Coles shoppers stunned as popular cleaning brand disappears from shelves

Woolworths, Coles and BIG W shoppers have been left stunned by the disappearance of a very popular cleaning brand from supermarket shelves.

Method’s range of cleaning buys have attracted a legion of supporters who count many of the brand’s sprays and liquids as their favourites.

But now 7NEWS.com.au can confirm that Method cleaning products have been removed from sale at all Woolworths, Coles and BIG W stores nationally.

The move follows a 2021 class action lawsuit in the US which saw Method accused of labelling their products as “non-toxic” and “natural” when they allegedly contained ingredients that may not be.

SC Johnson & Son – the company behind the brand – admitted no wrongdoing but settled the case, agreeing to pay out $US2.25 million to consumers and remove the “non-toxic” wording from the relevant products.

A SC Johnson & Son representative has confirmed to 7NEWS.com.au “that the product has been discontinued” and no longer being sold in Australia.

Woolworths shopper transforms oven with $5 miracle buy: ‘Seriously impressive’

It no longer lists the brand on its website in Australia.

The range’s disappearance from stores has prompted a wave of comments on social media from fans of the cleaning buys, desperate to know why it’s missing from shelves.

“Would anyone know if they have stopped making Method cleaning sprays?” one fan asked on the Mums Who Clean Facebook page. “I have been unable to find it in any of the local Coles and Woolworths supermarkets.”

Another wrote: “Does anyone know where Method Daily Shower Spray can be purchased from now? BIG W, Woolies and Coles no longer stock the brand.”

A third said: “Oh no! I thought I saw them at my local Woolies recently. Maybe I need to stock up. I’m mad they discontinued the granite cleaner though. It was soooo good.”

One more wrote: “This is my favourite brand by far. Gutted.”

It’s believed Method can still be purchased on Amazon, while some stock is still available at The Reject Shop.

The brand gained notoriety in Australia thanks to the cheeky “hidden messages” it places on the bottom of each bottle.

Cheeky one-liners such as “Stop staring at my bottom” and “Let me do your dirty work” were once found on Method bottles when they were turned upside-down.
